“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” — Helen Keller
Born and raised in South Africa, I learned early on the value of hard work, discipline, and helping others succeed. Those values still shape the way I teach today as a Gold Seal Flight Instructor, check instructor, and ground school instructor.
Aviation has given me a lot, and one of the biggest reasons I instruct is because I enjoy helping students reach goals that once felt out of reach. I work with pilots at different stages of training and focus on building more than just test-ready applicants. My goal is to help students become safe, confident, and knowledgeable aviators who are prepared for real-world flying.
As a check instructor and ground school instructor, I have spent a lot of time helping students strengthen weak areas, improve decision-making, and approach training with confidence. I know how stressful checkride preparation can be, and I also know that sometimes students just need extra guidance, encouragement, and a chance to ask questions without feeling rushed.
That is one of the reasons I offer free checkride prep. It is my way of giving back to the aviation community that has given so much to me. I want students to have access to support, mentorship, and quality instruction, especially during one of the most important parts of their training. Even small amounts of extra help can make a big difference in a student’s confidence and performance.
Outside of flight instruction, I enjoy serving my community as a volunteer at the Oregon Zoo and as a docent at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. Both roles reflect my passion for education, outreach, and sharing what I love with others.
For me, instruction is not just about passing knowledge along. It is about investing in people, building confidence, and helping create safer pilots for the future.
